Mobile as Hu-Evolution Agent

This Hu-Evolution Movement has been brewing since humankind started using its frontal lobes… “Self-Creative” or autopoietic thought and behavior are now an emergent and quantifiable Hu-reality as can be witnessed in the birth and current revolt of Web2.0 and Social Media, VL and all associated technologies; but there are some missing cornerstones and foundation components that need to be in place to allow this movement to be healthfully born and to develop effectively going forward.

hugensPrinciple_2The pressure has been building and I believe the time is upon us to be pro-active in acting-with this “birthing” and to act as facilitator of this explosive new paradigm before us. The water has only broken people; the rest of the baby is still yet to come…

Some people say you can only have so many shifts within a certain psycho-social timeframe… that a certain paradigmatic “refractory period” is needed and this is true, I believe, BUT only as it has applied within our previously hierarchical and male-disposed organizational structures and processes.

I say that the flatter our social order becomes the greater allowable frequency of shifts, movements will occur. If you look around these last 100…..50…..30…15, 10, 5, 2 years you will see just such a phenomena – the paradigm shifts have increased in frequency. This “meta-shift” is, in and of itself, an indication of SELF-Evolving Human and Human collective movement – like ozone before lightening, the rumbling is palatable.

I know you know something is coming. I know you can feel it too.  Some of you may have your own way of seeing it. So many convergent indicators are in the marketplace today.  The holonomic models of Karl Pribram and David Bohm apply well I think to these coming of days and thereafter – to what we as human beings do in our minds and how we change in our behavior over these next generations (I project 3-4 or 100 years) and beginning now, and how mobile is a key component tech in this transformational space/time… today.

People are not just learning content or skills.  They are not simply going to use mobile to learn-to-learn – a new emergent population of humanity that 2%, is now ready to use mobile to Learn-to-Evolve!

Mobile as THE Human evolution-revolution agent is why I am here speaking to you. It is a huge project and huge undertaking and will demand many teams of many synergistic skill sets, and as would be true of any real paradigm shift some of these skills sets have not worked together very often, such as theoretical neuropsychologists and mobile application developers and Personal Knowledge Management specialists and “Self-Quantification” scientists and SQ product development companies. We have seen a few such interactions but not as a fully integrated top-down/bottom-up (chalice-shaped) development process.

Who wants to work on a piece of this collective dance together?

While I understand the concept, and have felt many of the Ah-Ha’s we have spoken about, I find that I am searching for the “moment” … It is not quite Ah-Ha but it is enlightening and it is a learning moment. There is Ah-Ha and then there is the “Oh-No”(?)

Hi Lou,

Funny that… my father asked the same question when I introduced him for the first time to my work in the early 1980’s.  He asked, “So what’s an “oh-oh”!

I see these as predictive ah-ha’s with an anticipated down-side – same two syllable utterance though, which I think is a cool connection. This two-syllable, viscerally and cognitively motivated expression (and the two other below), is ubiquitous among all human ethnic populations around the world (… and I’ll prove it someday too. Help anyone? “Ah-so” – Japanese version. We all know that one.)

Ah-ha, “aahhh” and “ha-ha” are the three big primal human utterances (Oh-oh is right up there but 1st cousin to ah-ha I suspect) and many have repeated the work of Arthur Koestler concerning these three.

My take on it is that these three primal utterances we ALL make are psycho-physiologically interconnected, and ah-ha is the result of a juxtaposition and combination of what happens within us when we experience aahhh and ha-ha together.

(Lateral shift… ) What I find amazing is the “social” choice people make to NOT overtly indicate or express the fact they have experienced and insight. It appears we are “cooler” folk if we hold back acknowledging the experienced and fact that other human beings may have assisted up in learning something new. Amazing, huh.  Typically a male phenomena but I am sure women are just as adept at choosing not to show they learned anything new from anyone, in other words we prefer to not show our human-ness. Now these same “knew-it-already’s” (Not!)  will no doubt say “ah-ha” and “aahhh” and “ha-ha” out loud if it serves their selfish strategic motivations… to get ahead in their own wicked way…. It all depends on who is there to embrace, impress and connect to, like the Boss, a new client or new “friend.”I

t is as if learning something new from anyone else is something less intelligent, unprofessional and unevolved people do. How ironic. I have seen people actually fight off saying “ah-ha” out loud and in public, to ensure not sharing the collegial connection and social-learning intimacy. It’s sadly, sadly hilarious to me.

It is Time to Measure Our Ah-Ha's and Our Patterns of Insight... Our "Paths-of-Ah-Ha"

I think the minute we begin to share the experience of ah-ha itself in real-time and with others around us or connected to us, and do so overtly, whether it be in a crowded elevator or workshop, office, food store, or elbow to elbow at the breakfast joint countertop, and we directly communicate it, we say “I just had an ah-ha.” Not over jolly or clown-like but matter of fact with the natural grin  that comes with “most” ah-ha’s.

I think the minute we let others (in) know that they helped us, directly or indirectly, in achieving this phenomenal moment-of-insight – big, medium or small – that these moments of personal human “evolution-synergy-sharing” will slowly but surely transform the quality of human consciousness-of-relationship  significantly, forever and for the betterment of all our lives and that of our planet.

The Design (Purpose) of The Internet?

“I live’n’breathe the “how”, “why” and “so what” of the “design/purpose” of Internet as it relates to individual human and human systems (social) development, seen as an evolutionary process.

And specifically, I am most thoroughly sustained by considering and working on answers to the how, why and so-what of the Internet’s dynamic, direct and NATURAL role in supporting the how, why and so-what of individual human evolution and in parallel humanities synergistic evolution.

The most obvious reflection of the human mind is seen in our internet movement as it is most obviously reflective of both the connectivity nature of the human brain and the manifestion of that brain in the evolution of our personal Self and further in the evolution of the connectivity of personal Self’s globally.

My work and writing speaks to essential and magical pragmatism (Yes, pragmatics can be magical, ask Williams James) of the “why” of the internet” as a function of an innate and unstoppable, although seemingly detour prone, process of individual, innate and gift-based human evolution… and whole human-systems gift-based or gift-centric social evolution, and more specifically, the evolution of 1) an individual and naturally disposed and gifted human mind, and 2) all of these human minds doing that same thing.

… and a “why the internet exists” design/purpose founded on the innate NEED of all these evolving and inherently gift-driven-at-the-core human minds finding fuller and better and more synergy-rich “connecting” along the way.

My innately disposed preference is to think of the internet as simply a mind-mirror and interactive functional projection and manifestation thereof, the human mind. And over time, guess what, it actually looks more and more like a human cortex, this felt-work of connective tissue, of fibrils, like glial cells and dendridic networks, enmeshed and encapsulating directly, and indirectly and over time, all minds on the planet. And these minds “connected” – consciously, most not – are trying really, really hard – as it is what they are designed to do… is their ultimate and pre-ordained purpose – to be all they can be… to be innately and naturally gift-driven and along the way, trying very, very hard to more effectively resonate (socnet) and connect (socnet) to optimizing “partners” along the way, and over generations of our humanity.

It is this fundamental process and direction of human evolving that feeds the evolution of da’Net itSelf, and reciprocally, the further evolution of the natural and innately disposed and gifted human Self.

Nice that the internet helps in all this, and was mirror-designed in fact, for that express purpose, whether we see it as such or not, i.e. it’s purpose within and without and pertaining to the unfolding unknown.

“Give Me My Data Back!” or “I want to SEE My SELF, so give me my data back, please.”

Is it possible? Is it Time? Could it be a New Wave in Social Corporate Stewardship(?)

The movement I call by various names… “Give Me My (behavioral) Data Back!” …is a wave-as-swell within a coming Tsunami…which I muse on and on about throughout this blogspace.

As a “coming” or non-manifest tech or new services surge it is, by default, an emergent “development” question, and one that will need answering sooner or later. And now is not such a bad time to start, especially for innovator and entrepreneurs and all who are connected at the hip to that population of creative thinkers and tenacious do-ers.

This is not about protecting me from others, and even from my own lack of awareness about how I may be giving up about more and more information about myself… and doing so using my behavioral and decision-making data.  That is a conversation many others have been working on for decades.

This is about being able to use my data so I can See My SELF, my personal patterns of behavior. This is about being able to allow me to begin to pro-active control CHANGE (in/of) my Self; to allow myself and users as sentient human beings the ability to ask data pattern questions about me, to run scenarios; to project change by adding certain variables to my own historical life patterns; to be able to do personal pattern simulations that show my future Self  and over time…

[Now, are you actually going to ask me why I would want to see my Self, or what being able to access and observe a mirror or videotape of myself  – through data that can show my personal behavioral patterns – would be a good or a positive thing? Good.]

This is about being able to do FOR me what others are doing TO me – to become my true and genuine and real and naturally gifted Self vs. my unconscious little self – the automata with real frontal lobes that somehow over generations has allowed others to manipulate and control, which through a lack of self-awareness and/or general life-apathy, I allow to do.

The moment users can see their Self in a form that allows them insight into their own behavior and engages them in a process of personal and pro-active self-control and evolution is the moment other companies will sprout up and make great ROI’s riding this new wave. These pro-human-evolution companies will profit and they will take the place of many that ironically can’t change their own corporate behavioral patterns, those who stubbornly stick to there profit making behaviors, who can’t shift with the tides and do so directly after the big swells begin to hit home. These old corporations that used our personal and intimate life living data to “control-evolve” us will need to use their own personal corporate life data to change their own patterns, as it is their “thinking and doing” momentum pattern that keeps them dancing the waltz when the music has changed to something with more of a rumba fell to it.

Being able to see one’s self is an essential step in being able to change and begin to learn-to-evolve and change our data patterns.  Mind you, this is a pattern very few “sellers” want us to change, at least not dramatically, which is exactly what can happen and should happen for most of us – a revolt into our TruSelf(s). 

This is the whole Tsunami as Human Evolutionary Wave, within which resides “taking our data back” as a wavelet.

An internal dialogue that surrounds the Question:
Who owns my data? Hey, why can’t I own it?  Could I lease it if I owned it? Okay, if I can’t own my own behavioral data, why can’t I at least have it for my own personal use? Okay then, if you won’t give it back to me (for all the insane reasons you are telling me) can I go get it for my Self… to use to see myself in the mirror and come to know and then evolve that Self.

Who is the “Me” that would like to have their behavioral pattern data, or all the raw data and over time… the patterns, given back to them: Consumers, Users, Us, We, You, Me our Children (…and collectives therein… could be organizations as well.)

 “Can AI User Software Agents do the collecting? What would my own guided software agents NOT be able to collect for/about us? What can they acquire for me?

I think this is part of the coming Tsunami, one of the big interwoven swells, and is aligned with the new generation of User Personal-Profiles… dynamic and evolving mirrors and data spaces that become our personal life coaches, our inner dialogue.  This is the next gen as I see it.

So, back to the point to this idea of getting the User (as individual or collective therein) their Behavior Data – you and me, from Safeway (for store) and Home Depot POS to GPS and Google to facebook, Outlook, Farmville, Word, online banking, Google, and then to Starbucks and back again – what do you think?

Let’s assume you think it’s a crazy idea but who are you to judge, and you are a software genius who likes massive and complex and cool problems to solve… How would you go about doing this in terms of???

  • Algorithms? (PSO + GP? http://julian.togelius.com/Togelius2008Geometric.pdf)
  • User Self-Clouds as processing and storage and “Self-Data” security?
  • Platforms involved?
  • Designing new users “Self-Data Sharing” e-commerce marketing research and behavioral auto-aggregate (and payment to User) space?
  • Parsing and sharing of this new domain of user data among and between other Users? (A whole new dimension of relationship development, filtering socnet?)
  • Active collection across behavior data signal/input and storage platforms?
  • 4D User data visualization (colorfully nested-toroids are my preference)?
  • And so much more.

Yes, this question and also how to help organizations see this strategic and socially evolved move as a wise and socially progressive move for them will help.  They key in selling company on the idea of giving us our data back  is all about unique human life-pattern clarity and coherence – to be able to see not just the tail or toe of the donkey but at last 65+% of the donkey, me, you, the user, customer and consumer – and potentially make MORE money from us. You see, if users get their data back then they can (in aggregate and securely) give it back as a more whole representation of their behavior patterns and of their historically predictable Self and uniquely invariant at times Self… their more total behavioral spectrum.

But… we will have seen it to!

Would corporate, and organizational and gov’t data buyers and analyzers prefer a more whole human behavioral pattern picture that cost them less?

The only person who will allow “the total aggregate” collection, or should be allowed to have the say-so in, the collection of all their aggregate life data is the human being who owns that life or is at least manifesting the behavior (of course many would argue this source of control and could win that argument depending on the jury). So why not give it back to us and then buy it back in a fuller representation than you have ever seen before and at less cost to you, as you can use less to see more.

Anyway, that’s my course grain corporate argument.

Nice blog comment. I am not familiar with Google wave yet but it sounds interesting. I am very interested in further understanding your thoughts about how we can work with technology that helps us to realize and represent our true self more effectively to others while helping us in the “yearning” area to work and communicate more effectively with others on our team or that have a common interest or goal. Many of today’s social networking site like facebook and myspace currently fall short in this key department but I’m sure they will all evolve based on user feedback.

What is your definition of “Ecology of Mind”?

In a complex nutshell (sorry) my interpretation of “Ecology-of-Mind” as a movement that affects each of us personally, our families, society, why and how we make money in the future, etc… concerns a framework bounded by three synergistic assumptions-as-realities:

1) The design and the development of technology is innately motivated by the design and function of the human brain.

2) This motivation is founded on our innate and natural need for a certain Mind-to-Mind and Minds-to-Minds and Mind-to-Minds quality of human connection and working and life relationships… that “quality” that motivates the mind to create technology to better connect each of us to the other as potent partnerships and collectives thereof.   A “naturally harmonic ecological system of minds”, a certain optimal global connectivity as human tapestry exists today, everyday and right now. This “EcoMind potential” is constantly and innately motivated to discover and produce fuller and more amazing human synergies – sooner, with less friction or barrier, more often, and maintain each for its fullest natural time.

3) The only element of the equation gone under-developed is us, our innate Self. The idea of a human being living their natural gifts from the get go. Not what we have done or do now but what we are born to do. This is the question we are considering now as a system of minds, led unknowingly by a world of minds, as we create technologies and software that helps us better known and see our innate, natural, real or TruSelf. A scary proposition really. Imagine if you failed at being all of you?

This is “The Great Yearning” we all have as a sentient a species. To be part of a potent web of meaningful work and people to do it with… to be unique and make a significant difference with our gifts, our nature, our Self.

This is, I believe, the most fundamental of all forces of human nature – outside of more essential human needs for food and shelter – to YOUniquely create and to do so with others. To evolve. The path is not without curves or obstacle.

An Ecology-of-Mind, if it were real, would demand the discovery, creation, nurturing, effective management and quality of human synergy founded on the clarity of each gifted human Self within the system.

It is the technology, software really, that moves us to insights and action about our Self that is my work…

We haven’t a clue really because we have yet to see this quality of human resonance and human connectivity and purposeful work output in action.

Those of us that have been on great teams know… they have been searching for the fix ever since, but it is more than this. Our awareness of our gifts is a huge step. Heck, an awareness of the fact that we have insights at the moment of insight itself is a huge shift in consciousness.

The proof of novelty. If I asked you to describe your innate and natural Gifts… you would be stuck.

The day you can and everyone else can – and we find that this way of objectively defining our innate Self’s is the new foundation of our dynamic and evolving online Profile – is the day we are connecting in ways we could not even imagine. And I imagine, it is this same day that we are all, as a world of people, resting a bit easier.

To date we have focused on all the various forms of ecology in the last 30 years, especially the last 10 years, all but the one most important to a truly self-sustaining and prosperous humanity. The Ecology-of-Mind is that last undiscovered country, natural resource gone unmanaged, fully developed, smartly maintained and fully funded.

It has been coming and will be coming now more like a Tsunami… big huge swells of evolving change.

“What kind of ????? are You?” The Amazing Yearning… for a Real, True, Unique Self.

I actually saw “Asian” fill the question marks in the above quoted title of a quiz on Facebook.

It was one of the hundreds of “What kind of ??? are you?” quizzes that have spawned into the online social worldsince 2009. You can “Self” defining quizzes such as “What kind of dog or drunk or animal or  seaweed… you are.”  Here’s a blog post almost 2 years later by someone else on seeing the same pattern: http://webhostblog.com/2009/05/facebook-quizzes/

I see these quizzes as a psychological phenomena in the marketplace. There appears an incredibly pervasive “need” to define one’s Self. Further, the jesting style in many of these Self-revelatory quizzes and then the sharing of Self-quiz results reinforces the high degree of sublimated yearning for validation – the need for some form of discrete personal description – of personal identity and the verification of personal meaning, worth and value.

Scary Amazing!

So, the yearning increases each day and brings us to the obvious question.

How do we SELF-Represent, and better yet, how do we represent our YOUnique-ness!?

Holo_letterA_4m_RealBin2New words and phrases will begin to emerge as well.  Phrases such as TruU, TruSelf… RI-Real Intelligence, YOUnique… Aha-Moment, Self-Rep, RealU, The EvoReVo!

More and more telltale “lingo” will anticipate an extremely exciting emerging market tsunami. It will come in waves over the next 10 years, with one discreet wave making many of us conscious of its arrival.

Ah-Ha!

This is one of the great multi-decade, era-waves coming to crash our life, family, business and technology shores. Actually it has been knocking since the beginning of human time… it is only now that this particular mass-movement can be born – that the technological and psycho-social readiness is in place to resonant and act.

(There are so, so many instantiation of this coming…)

The interpretive process-model by which humanity can see it’s innate and True SELF more clearly and over time…this is the great and emergent quest.

It is the ultimate purpose of technology – to serve the evolution of a uniquely and individually gifted and inherently and powerfully synergistic collective of humanity and over time… (IMHO)

Let us be conscious of that(!), and in the process, and for the first time, be able to make this idea of Human Consciousness actually cool and practical, best yet, embrace it through discreet matricies of measurable variables and patterns by which entrepreneurs can actually make money and we can actually our personhood as a Self-Evolving!

 The autopoietic possibilities involved in human and “HuSys” evolution and getting our arms around “healthfully” accelerating that process… naturally,

…this is THE next big 50-100 year deal.

How Much More Proof Do We Need Before We Known A “Movement” Exists?

After 30 years I have found that most of us are not “see-ers” but need to be shown.

As some of you know, I look for “proofs” as market and pre-emergent instantiations of this (my) work in two interconnected spheres: the existience of a tangible and literal Ecology-of-Mind, and what I have referred to since the 90’s as “Evolutionary Technologies.” (See G.E.T. The Vision – https://imonad.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/g-e-t-the-vision-defined/ )

Those proofs-as-indicators (tremors) show that a broad and deep and life penetrating movement is underfoot and that its’ emergence is more wholistic and interconnected than anything we have seen and known before.

I think this above event example (along with many others and in various forms) is just one more concrete representation of two emergent movements that are happening all around us, and acting jointly in a natural parallel and symbiotically process.

1) An emergent Ecology-of-Mind is becoming more apparent and technology is now showing just how emphatically it has been affected in feature, function and design through an unconscious mirroring and projection of the human mind upon it.
2) An emergent individual human and global cultural need and tools to satisfy that need is beginning to articulate itself – that being the need to come to know, as in more consciously come to know, our innate and natural SELF(s). Massive social-networking and social-gaming movement are obviously representative (both directly and inversely) of this intrinsically founded human effort, and the innate need of the “human being” to better know its’ true nature, its’ true Self.

In terms of market movements and transformations…stand way back and consider this… Is it not simply amazing that a applied neuropsych PhD may now find themselves building human behavior and adaptive and predictive perception/cognitive data pattern algorithms within a socnet or socgame newco or is in a back room at Google, FB, Hi-5, Microsoft or LinkedIn doing the same?! Don’t you find this career shift at all interesting!? I am guessing you have to have lived outside of the wave to see the wave, or long enough to know it is one of interconnected others in the context of time.

SELF-representation is a good first step, but the ontology of SELF-evolution is missing, and this is what I think I bring to the party.

There is always an inverse and the inverse here is the negative pressure results of not coming to better know, not coming to be more conscious of… our TruSelf.

I could easily proof the validity of my work by using an inverse approach, i.e. “…this is this way because of a lack of equal and opposite positive pressure that would look like this in the market and in our lives…”

But nobody buys those inverse arguments. Do they?
