The Human Identity Shift: When Personal Authenticity becomes the Keystone for Social Accountability

This next-gen of social, more-evolutionary (psycho-social) in nature (pun to be seen later) will be based on new domain of individual data and metrics.  These measures will also be visualized in 4D (not simply circles, but toroids over time which = 4D personal topologies) and will be dynamic and fluid values visualized and yet, despite their fluidity they will having directionality in regards to the individual and certain innate developmental limits, i.e. our natural personal and unique dispositions and gifts will, as they always have, define our personal developmental limits. Our natural “limits” are seen here in non-traditional definition. *

As we learn and evolve our gifts we develop our unique and genuine form of personal mastery and from this a life-purpose based on our natural gifts and dispositions. Our mastery develops, through a very full life time, into a personal “art-form.”

Anyone who has developed true mastery will be seen as an artist in their work whether they’re an educator, design engineer, programmer, plumber, executive, electrician, chef, or lawyer, yes, lawyers can achieve a level or artistry in their life work too. In fact my own brother has achieved such a level of Mastery, as an attorney, but would never say this out loud. At this time, and predominantly, this is not how we talk (out loud) about gift-evolved personal mastery in most professional fields of work, but I see a time coming when we will.

Human Authenticity will be seen, literally visualized, as an evolving matrix of personal-data metrics. Some old and many new dimensions of personal data will be utilized.  Both the numbers and the visualized illustrations of those numbers will be sharable with proactive, prescriptive (personal bots/agents) sharing occurring virtually as we auto-search optimized, positive and quantifiable synergy with others.  This will become a piece of the next generation of “social.” The difference between our current and this next-gen of social will be found in the finer-grain AND fuller metrics and representations of our personal authenticity and identity.
We have  been steadfastly moving toward a human evolution-revolution for quite some time and this is, I believe, the first human generation that will make this idea tangible via data, metrics and representation of the human “Self” as a psycho-social evolving entity with a parallel development of human synergetic connectivity.
Our current prescriptions  for social synergy are extremely course-grain in comparison to what we will be seeing soon as “social accountability” morphs into a more innately personal social-authenticity. We will be seeing metrics that represent our unique evolution of our authentic Self as the new form of an and more and more coherent Identity over the years.
These personal-as-in-Self measures will be learning, development and personal (and intimate) evolution “mirroring” metrics for each of us. They will be mirrors of our progression towards the realization of our most genuine and “real” and potent personhood. Technology will for the first time help us better see and become our essential Self’s. Social’s amazing evolution-revolution will be forcing each of us to become more of – the who, why and what of – our innately gifted Self’s.
This is the ultimate path for personal and social accountability, is it not?

And this will be difficult time for many of us whose life to date has been lived founded upon powerful yetextrinsic models and social motivators;, i.e. those of us that have been living symbolic lives, and even become highly successful both monetarily and professionally in the process. Monetary success is NOT a valid metric for human accountability, as many of us already know, nor is professional stature necessarily a metric for personal authenticity.

The best news? This will happen so much the sooner and evolve into a positive common and learned awareness within the lives of our children.

To make the consciousness of a personal “Self” cool you first have to define it. To do that you need a framework, a way of speaking to the question to begin with. In our conversation the human “Self” has an evolving quality that we believe we can visually represent in a meaningful way – both for the user and for society as a whole – and over time.

So, to make Self-consciousness cool you have to make the process of personal evolution entertaining, ergo cool. You have to make the thought-framework you are using, in our case, a human evolutionary-ontology, entertaining and cool.

Then, of course, you have to create a brand universe of products and services founded upon this “framework-as-ontology.” Not a simple nor obvious solution as this complex brand universe is born from a synergetic system of words, images and meaning-rich messages. And this system of words images and messages will grow out of this idea of evolving personal YOUnique-ness; TheSelf; and so on. AND all of this, schtuff… you know… must be truly kewl to fly.

The model, we call LeModel (Learning-to-Evolve the Model), consists of 6 core “state” or “process/operator” variables, facets or components. It was first created and presented to academic audiences as a new way to frame, and speak to the idea of, gift-centric Self-evolution. These first presentations occurred at Stanford University between 1983-1985. 

The character images are called LeToonz and were added to illustrate the phrases within LeModel in 1990-91. These “toon-ish” illustrations were done in collaboration with Jack Dempsey, a Chicago (Illinois/USA) artist.

From Left to Right and riding directly atop the wave (LeWave) we see AskYourSelf, LetGo, Ah-Ha, and DoIt.  Below AskYourSelf and on the circular pedestal, and in blue, is Flo, Across from Flo and in front of and below Ah-Ha is BeIt. BeIt is a comnbination of all the LeToonz characters. BeIt’s shapre is that of a chalice and a torid… see the donut around BeIt’s waist. The arms and legs spread up and out to form the shape of the chalice (bi-spiral vortices).

“Ah-Ha” (aka: “aha-moment”) is one of the LeModel “state” variables.

It has taken some time but all the LeModel linguistic variables have, as of 2010, become part of the consumer lexicon. This is not to say the utternace “ah-ha” did not occur before Oprah.  It is only to say that broad and commonly defined consumer awareness of what an “ah-ha” means and its “reality” as a shared  experience started with Oprah. The same with “Do-It” via Nike; and “Flo” or “Being in the Zone” via our star athlete Brand scripting (and Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi).

It took 1 human generation, approximately 25 years between 1984-2010, for all of the variables within LeModel to achieve this level of awareness and frequency-of-use in the consumer market.  One thing LeModel provides that we have yet to see is to show the natural interplay and relationships that exist between each of these core variables and how these operate within our lives.

The phrase “Do-It” is one of the “process” or operation variables within LeModel. Nike made “Just Do It” famous 1988. Once a phrase becomes has developed a certain permanence within our conversations with each other, or within our Selfs, we can assume a new level of awareness, or consciousness, has been achieved related to the idea, or meaning of the word or phrase and its emergent associations. In this case, “Do-It” became part of our common lexicon by the early 90’s and has persisted into present day conversation. Ah-Ha, or aha-moment, emerged in and around early 2010 and will continue to spread dramatically.

“Flo” is one of the LeModel “state” variables that made it to verbal ubiquity in the late 90’s under the umbrella of pop sport psychology with its early roots found in the published and later more broadly popularized work of Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi  (1985, 1989).

“Ask Your Self” we began to see in a number of Print, Radio and TV ADs and then TV comedy scripts such as Seinfeld in the late 90’s early 2000… to date each and every one of these phrase-as-variables has been isolated, or seen as separate by the consumer-mind. In our model they are unified as a system. Over time each and every one of these phrases has migrated across multiple social-semantic contexts.

Ah-Ha clicked-in-relevance with the consuming mind in the last quarter of 2008 w/Oprah: http://www.oprah.com/packages/aha-moments.html … and is now being used in media scripting, business, academic and product and service presentations and speeches around the world. Speaking to perceived value of a “phrase”, Mutual of Omaha even sued Oprah over use of the phrase “Aha Moment.”

So, how can we get kids to think, see and viscerally experience this idea that their SELF, and the Consciousness of their innate and evolving Self is actually amazingly cool?  This has always been the big question.

We have looked at the array of product domains and channels and age-groups by which to enter the market, knowing full well that the “thought-product” we are offering can manifest itself within any number of product domains – from fashions and accessories; to toys; to educational-tech to media/entertainment content (TV, Video, Music, Film); to mobile (dedicated learning and/or learning-game)  and social media apps… to knowledge, collective intelligence and semantic web apps…. and even to coffee cups. http://letoonz.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/letoonz-product-kids-8-13-lewave-wremoveable-letoonz-characters-and-embedded-songs/

We also know a number of these categories are inherently synergistic (Cool Mobile-App Suite meets new Brand Toys (assume younger demog) and/or Fashions + New “Brand” Music/Video, etc) and we have been looked at these scenarios as parallel devel waves.

For example, we know we can build an exciting game-culture (with sequel and age-migration legs) specific to human-evolution (EvoReVo!). Not a simple task. We could use a treasure hunt, mystery and puzzle storyboard format with a focus on the discovery (recorded ah-ha’s) of innate personal gifts and dispositions (The Natural-Self Revealed)… “Yea so.” & “…then what?” …the user asks. Well, it’s inherently Self-developmental and social developmental, or simply “social”… so we build in connectivity into the game… it is global multi-player treasure hunt, the treasure being “The Self” and Synergies-of-Self’s defined by who the users really are; defined by a significantly more authentic “Me.”

Further, with this game-generated data and experience, can you then build an evolving social (MP) culture – a social synergy culture connecting individually evolving human beings based on a new platform of individual innate (born-with) characteristics used to mirror personal and YOUnique evolution… If we can make it fun and insight-full then we win the first round.

Can personal evolution be perceived as “kewl” today? We think so. We believe this in part based on social and semantic events that have unfolded consistently and progressively over the last 25 years in the consumer global marketplace – these emergent linguistic patterns we believe speaks to a value-perception and readiness for the ideas behind: Self-Evolution, YOUniqueness, SELF-Consciousness; and even the emergence notions of an Ecology-of-Mind and The Human-Singularity.

It is an amazing that each and every LeModel variable has become more and more commonly used in “shared experience” conversation by human beings around the world starting around 1990 +/- 1 yr or so and LeModel was first created and presented to the “academic” public as a whole, dynamic and unified system of these same phrases in 1983/84. 

To date, the powerful connections of each of these phrases to one another has not been articulated, much less illustrated, outside of LeModel. We look forward to sharing these thoughts and insights.

What is the Distinction between Human Learning and Human Evolving… and how is Mobile Learning technology involved

Evolution is quite distinctive from learning.  I have tossed and turned around the intersection of these spaces since graduate school Neuropsychology days at Stanford (Dr. Karl H. Pribram-advisor)… since 1984. The difference or distinction applies to a human awareness of our YOUnique “Self.”

The mobile space folds hu-connection. The folding of productive or operational space/time (e.g. productivity/time migration: smoke signals-2-letters-2-FedEx-2-encrypted/signature email-2-IM/Skype-2-MobileSkype) is also a byproduct of tech advances.

To learning-to-evolve is quite a bit different than to evolving-to-learn.  Meta-learning for example concerns the necessary cognitive abilities to make learning happen with intention, habitually, and to also, one hopes but not necessarily, to learn how we learn as unique learning and evolving human beings.   This is where the migration to learning-to-evolve as individuals and (ever greater potentialities of) synergistic systems of individuals begins.

Hu-Evolution, in my nutshell, starts with our natural genetic dispositions which are innate and distinctive for each and every one of us… this being the developmental foundation for what makes us “special” (our Purpose (and our core “learning” direction in life) is and should be based on our unique-ness) and therein how we can become more and more innately complete and therein more coherently (progressive potentiations of greater hu-synergy/time) synergistic with others.

We can only hope that all of our learning experiences move us in the direction of evolving our uniqueness as individuals; and from this movement do the same within and throughout global systems of individuals, e.g. teams, couples, families, companies, cultures.  Our life environments both trigger and nurture these innate and unique personal dispositions, or not, and to varying degrees between.

Mobile Learning can support Mobile-Personal Evolution only if it focused on applications that provide insight and support integrated cognitive, visceral and behavioral action in this regard. I am not sure you have noticed but there is a great and tangible yearning in the world right now for personal sense of what one might term a “true-self” – as one’s uniqueness seen and felt more clearly and coherently; and from this, a personal sense of meaning and purpose based on this fundamental foundation of the person.  (Oh, and this has nothing to do with our “character development” curriculum or much touted “self-esteem” thinking…  This is new territory).

I called this The Great Yearning.  You have all seen the explosion of quick (superficial) and “fun” self-evaluation quizzes.  For example: “What kind of drink are you?”, “What kind of Asian are you?” (I kid you not),”What kind of Soul are You?” (http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofsoulareyouquiz/), etc, etc.  This is a real indication of, and reaching-out for , “a  learning” that the market of human beings is screaming for help with.

More than ever before (at least now quantifiably manifest within the soc-net app space) the question of genuine-ness, and by natural extension, a more genuine quality in human-connectivity is being spoken of, both directly and indirectly.  Learning what makes us for a “genuine” human being  is no different than learning, and then living (daily), the who, what and why of each of us… what makes us YOUnique as individuals and by default, what we are here to do with our lives.

Mobile-Learning can be the platform for insights concerning personal evolution and natural gift-centric  and innate dispositional-centric assessment over time, day-by-day and these are mobile apps (as a suite) I am currently working on.

Without knowing who and what and why we are (with the how, when/where and so-what part of the question-matrix) … we unfortunately “learn” (mobile or otherwise) without the conscious, guiding foundation of our innate Self, and we tend to be learning and acquiring knowledge through material/symbolic (vs. significant or naturally-driven) motivations, and as a universal (almost) consequence evolve without intention or design, i.e. market and external driven learning motivations.

This has not been “crossed” this road yet, it is directly before us. It is the next frontier. Welcome to the Evolution-Revolution, or what my students chunked, and called, “The EvoReVo!”
