The Business of EcoMind – Introduction

leave a comment »

EcoMind, to be real in the minds of bankers, accountants, CEO’s, Plumbers, Mom’s, Dad’s, kids and teens… and the rest of us, has to make money.  Money is the currency of significance in our world.  Even charity makes money.

So, how does or will The Ecology-of-Mind Movement represent itself in terms of making money, and not just any kind of money, but as the paradigm exploding sort, a movement as proposed herein worthy of generating billions upon billions of dollars as a new industry.

If this EcoMind Movement is indeed all I say it’s cracked up to be, it can’t be a short term quick-fix entry into the marketspace, the pet-rock of business possibilities, but must have legs, long legs, and must be a movement of multi-dimensionally affecting magnitude, a movement “…of the ages”, a “spoken of” 100-200 year celebration of time.

EcoMind, in a phrase, must fundamentally change the way we see ourselves, our world(s) and affect how we interact with others as a function of this new “sight.”

The following blog additions within this category will look directly and practically at this question – from the “bottom-up” (vs.  the top-down) – by sharing those aspects of the work I have done over the last 30 years which looks at the business-side question. Much of this business development work, which I call “TheWork“,  is elaborated and discussed within “private” meeting and blog spaces as it is proprietary and in development. Short abstracts of the facets of this work will be presented in this public space.

The other business facets, those that are already in the marketplace but have yet to be re-defined or seen as representative of aspects of an EcoMind framework, will be considered here as well and within the category “EcoMind at Large but Largely Unconnected

Going A.P.E. – Bullets For Future Prose…

leave a comment »

Auto-Poetic Evolution and Going for it…

Bullets for Future Prose…

·         As long as we are fragmented within our own nature we cannot see ourselves as a part of a whole.  The fragmentation of a Self is responsible for the perceived fragmentation of our world or a World made of fragmented Self’s…

·         The lack of a whole SELF is responsible for all actions that keep us from being and becoming whole, Purpose-filled and consciously connected with everything else.  We have a sense of it but cannot act on it directly.

·         There is no applied and universal and interpretive model or curriculum that focuses on the evolution of human potential at the level of the individual Self.

·         In terms of economics there is a big difference between what we think of as economy now and what “economy” would mean if we were became truly connected.

·         The idea of “Holonomics” vs. economics may be the watershed term.  This notion stands tall as the tidal wave following the current trough of the “new economy.”

·         Pribram has not been noticed as Bohm has.  This is due, in this authors mind, to the fact that Bohm is a physicists (interconnected to Einstein) and Pribram a neuroscientist – popular and universally empirical vs. unknown for the most part and working in perceived-as-subjective research domains.  Matter is a hardware commodity even though Bohm was (deceased) a consummate theorist operating in parallel with the metaphysics of Krishnamurti.

·         There are many instantiations that demonstrate our minds attempt to manifest itself outside of itself.  The Internet is the latest example of such. Our Self and our material world are one of the few aspects of our world as a whole that is not interconnected  – both within ourSELF’s as individuals and as a society.

·         If all matter, and in fact us without our realizing it, are fully and completely interconnected where is “the disconnect” between our minds and matter or what matters?  Where is the gap or short located?  Is it non-local?

·         The only thing missing is the thing between these two worlds.  Our-Self.

·         Our SELF is not fully connected or integrated internally yet is progressing towards this end despite parallel external self-agitation to end such wholeness.

·         We are not, as a whole, as yet whole as persons or coherent on our Self’s.  We are not manifest in our innate nature nor are we conscious of the need to do so.

·         Our interconnected facets, natural dispositions or innate competencies are not fully realized in their existence in part or as a whole much less in they’re manifestation in our everyday lives. And this IS CRITICAL.

·         Our SELF as individuals and a humanity is an un- or non-manifest whole, waiting to manifest itself, yet waiting for us to get our SELF-Act together in order to do it.

·         The friction of NOT living one’s innate self, one’s natural course, one’s gifts over a lifetime and generations thereof is showing in multiple fronts.  The emergence of the field of psycho-neuro-immunology is a medical-field symptom of this friction if not a realization.

·         How to Bridge the Gap?:

·         A system of Selves, as in organization or community or country or company or family or globe of people should operate under the same underlying processes and developmental principles. They are all systems made up of human beings.

·         Technologies dedicated to the auto-directed evolution of the human Self (and systems thereof) are the next revolution!

·         In the meantime… and whether we like it or not.

·         The human Mind/Brain endeavors to become seamless with all other Mind/Brains.  We like to call this determined vector or waveform of human evolution “ONEMIND.”

·         This is THE assumption from which to look at all human developments.  Technology being the most obvious.  The Internet being the most current instantiation with Holographic Hard Drives and Holographic Data Visualization technologies, as mind-manifesting instantiations, right behind it.

·         Human evolution, because of the unbalanced, male-biased nature as securely manifest in hierarchical psycho-social-org. systems, has been stripped of its innate SELF-creating competencies.  We are, for the most part, a symbolic (vs. Significance), market driven horde.

·         Until the “SELF” of our species is better articulated we will not be aware of this evolutionary fact.  Future human evolution necessitates a universal, meta-process-model as a standard technology based human and human-systems developmental infrastructure.

·         The Holographic-type cube (Pribram neural architecture model mirrored), as a memory technology in all PC’s will be in the market within 3-5 years. 2005 by IBM in the mainstream.

·         The connectivity of people in the optimal synergistic fashion is totally dependent on the articulation of the “Individual” as the manifest “SELF” of the individual.

·         The Individual is the Self.

·         Human and human-systems “Life-Purpose” necessitates a Self for definition.

·         Human-systems Self is beginning to be defined now in terms of organizational “Core Competencies” or as that which the organization, as a organized and coherent body of significant human knowledge does most naturally, best and which has now become recognized as intrinsic to that system.

·         It is the resolution or clarity of one’s “SELF” as a whole society (or family or organization or…) that correlates to the exact degree of more purpose-filled and synergistic, interconnectedness and wholeness, or lack thereof, of humanity.

·         We need the “thinking about” of a “literal SELF” to become as common as writing an email in our everyday life.

·         The quality of “Connected-ness” is the basis of the quality and nature of Synergy.

·         Synergy is dependent on human and human systems “Complementarity.”

·         Complements bind as a function of “fit-ness” relative to Significance as SELF.

·         Complementarity is unequivocally dependent of the coherence, clarity and pro-creative consciousness of the individual.  Complementarity can be viewed as the next concept of human “Fit-ness” or the quality of human fit.

·         This is why the use of the term Synergy is overused and under-lived.  We know it is important and even critical yet we haven’t got a real handle on it for OurSelf’s because we do not know truly our SELF’s!

·         We can not know wholeness unless we know the SELF.

·         It is the sole mission of G.E.T. The Vision to get people to Be Their SELF.

·         Error! Not a valid in the business of SELF-Seeing, Being and Building.  (GET is “Global Education/Evolving Transformation/Technologies.”)

·         It approaches and will accomplish this mission through a system of businesses that as a whole will effect humanity towards this end.

·         The first of these articulations, or facets, of GET is LeCompany, LLC.

·         LeCompany is where the tornado meets the road.

·         “Le” stands for Learning-as-Evolving or Learning-to-Evolve.

·         LeCompany is creating Human-Evolutionary-Autopoetic-Technologies (generating H.E.A.T.) to balance the out-of-balance revolution in the digital and fragmented systems of existing technology which accelerate our already fragmented humanity and Self.

·         Heck, if computer can even edit and fix its own software and create new and better versions on its own why can’t stop ourselves from smoking or an addiction to very-near-term profits.  There is software that begets and evolves other software.  That’s self-evolving technology.  Where are the self-evolving people? A step behind their own invention?  Typically, “Yes.”

·         LeCompany wants humanity to Self-Evolving, or as a cheer, “Go A.P.E.”

·         We call it Going A.P.E for fun and for real.   A.P.E. stands for Auto-Poetic Evolution and the Going for it…

·         At least our natural ape friends know exactly what they are and what they do best and live it every nanosecond of their lives.  No confusion there.  A confusion, no doubt, that would otherwise be fostered by a lack of consciousness by a consciousness-capable mind/brain. (Enter SELF)

Book Beginning – The Autopoietic Revolution or Going A.P.E.

The Future is about…

Going A.P.E.

Auto-Poetic Evolution and Going for it…

Dr.’s Pribram, Miller and Gallanter sat around a cozing fire at the Advanced Behavioral Institute while working on their unknown-to-be paradigm busting book The Plans and Structures of Behavior.  Little did they know then of the dual revolution they would be birthing.  While fire-writing this work that seeded the cognitive revolution, they happened to be sharing their sabbatical with Dr. Thomas Kuhn.  Dr. Kuhn, you may recall, is the gentleman who brought the term “Paradigm” to us in his seminal work which began at the Institute.  As the “story” goes, this trio of original paradigm busters coached Kuhn on the writing of The Structure of Scientific Revolution.)  I am told Dr. Kuhn would write a chapter and come down and share this with P,M&G at which point they would inform him that “this was this…” and, “Oh no, this was that…” and so on… That was the story anyway from my advisor, friend and mentor while at Stanford University, Professor Karl H. Pribram.  And to think “synchronicity” (K. Jung) is not a scientific term.

And so begins the platform of my thoughts herein – a work concerning the self-directed evolution of ideas and human beings and social and organizational systems.

The process-place before and after those launching and landing zones, from one paradigm to a another, that synaptic ideological leap, is a far more dynamic and complex space and more relevant today as questions about human and human systems nature and purpose become more frequent.  Those hidden questions that rise up consistently and just won’t go away, to force a shift to occur.  Like our love for the 0’s and 1’s led us from Sherrington to code so our love for paradigm rhetoric in the 80’s leads us to a leap into human and organizational evolution after the knowledge banter plateaus.

While working in the Neuropsychology laboratories at Stanford University and under the tutelage of Professor Karl H. Pribram (now at Radford University) I have participated in surgical operations on monkey brains using the exact same operating table Dr. Sherrington used to begin the path that birthed today’s computer.

What?! Who!?  Dr. Sherrington (one of the fathers of psycho-biology) was the father of the synapse and thus the father of 0’s and 1’s.  What makes his research most applicable today is not that discovery though.  It turns out he was more interested in the pre-and post-synaptic universe than the synapse itself. This dendridic-processing world, before and after the synaptic cleft, was where the action was for Sherrington and just so happens to be where the action is for us in the millennium.  This is a world of nodes and the waxing and waning of wave as potentials not discrete firings over clefts. It’s analogue not digital.  And the pendulum swings.

Unfortunately in Sherrington’s paradigm-time there was no readiness or scientific and social “competence” for the idea of nth dimensional, frequency based, analogue processing.  That paradigm was ready and competent for the digital thought, the digital paradigm.  And so history unfolds until today as “digital” made the day back then.

In terms of convolutions of synchronicity, Pribram, et al, came up with the idea of “Images” in the brain.  This was in paradigmatic conflict with the popular Stimulus-Response model of of Skinner (and still is).  Unfortunately this “Images” in and of the brain idea could not be proven without an analogue or frequency model of cortical processes such as those found in human perception and memory.  These things just had to wait.  Pribram did, serendipitously to some degree, unfold the Holographic work in the late 70’s and thus began the readiness for understanding images as memory components and later, and still, the processes involved in human consciousness.  A deeply human concept and reality which a 0’s and 1’s universe would find incomprehensible.

The world of the waves, or the analogue domain, at the neural level is the undiscovered country of the human, technology and human-technology future.  The digital universe was not what fascinated the founder of the synapse but it was what the world was ready to hear.  The readiness of the paradigm to shift was a readiness for discrete logic, a readiness for the digital age and bootstrapping and key punch cards and not a readiness for the most potent of complex natural processes found in the human brain. The digital, not the analogue universe, was the offspring of this “readiness.”  The question is, what is the current readiness waiting for?  Funny thing, the synapse of Sherrington discovery was of muscle fiber (body) and thus the old adage of men always using (considering) their muscles before their heads (cortex/analogue) re-emerges.

The pre-shift of the paradigm is like the pre-and post-synaptic world of the neuron.  It is the analogue universe from which, and in feed-forward (not feedback – another story), the action unfolds.  The shift itself is like the firing of the neuron.  It is digital.  The actual computation or processing world of each human brain and thus that of a system of humanity, is in the wave-domain not the digital.  The ability to effect the shift then is in the analogue universe.

We unfortunately are very digitally oriented at the moment because of our rabid infatuation with what Sherrington and Kuhn and Pribram et al where in fact only secondarily interested in… the 0’s and 1’s of life.  The time of their real interests at that much earlier time is at hand.

Bohm and Pribram gave us the idea of holonomy of mind and matter, respectively.  Bohm with his work, “Wholeness and the Implicate Order” and Pribram with “The Languages of the Brain”, and later, “Brain and Perception…” This interconnected – Holonomic – frequency-based universe posits the obscene reality that everything is connected and in fact one implicate whole.  It is the movement from this implicate and whole world into the explicate world that we can and should control.

What we must come to terms with is that the explicate world derives, and is an unfolded reality of, this unified “whole” world.  Bohm was first presented to the consumer corporate world in the first paragraph of Peter Senge’s “The Fifth Discipline.”  This was my first indication of an evolving, coherent readiness for the shift from the digital to the digital-analogue mix and all consequences thereof.  Per Bohm, our objective reality is unfolded from the implicate domain.  Our sense of not being connected and not seeing that all things are in fact connected is due to our ignorance of the interconnections that exist within our own self.  We may know but do we know-know.  Application is beyond rhetoric and the application of Bohm and Pribram in social, business and technology architectures and processes are, as yet, unseen.

The following bullets outlines further thoughts on this subject – as work in progress – and attempts to embrace the holistic and total effect of a mind that is moving outside of itSelf to connect all other minds.  We like to refer to this as the EnfoldedMind or OneMind.

See “Bullets for Future Prose” for potential future chunks of prose.

Autopoiesis Defined – Maturana and Varella

leave a comment »

…the process whereby an organization produces itself. An autopoietic organization is an autonomous and self-maintaining unity which contains component-producing processes. The components, through their interaction, generate recursively the same network of processes which produced them. An autopoietic system is operationally closed and structurally state determined with no apparent inputs and outputs. A cell, an organism, and perhaps a corporation are examples of autopoietic systems. See allopoiesis. (F. Varela)

Literally, self-production. The property of systems whose components (1) participate recursively in the same network of productions that produced them, and (2) realize the network of productions as a unity in the space in which the components exist (after Varela) (see recursion). Autopoiesis is a process whereby a system produces its own organization and maintains and constitutes itself in a space. E.g., a biological cell, a living organism and to some extend a corporation and a society as a whole. (krippendorff)

Ecology Movement – The natural platform for the emergence of an “Ecology of Mind” or EcoMind

leave a comment »

Of all the current social and technological  movements underway the new GreenTech version of the ongoing “Ecology Movement” is the best instantiation and foundation and/or platform for an emergent  “Ecology-of-Mind” Movement.

If “ecology” in and of itself is about natural resource sustainability in all its many massively and sublimely interconnected forms, and about the ability to become more efficient and less wasteful and more sensitive to our environments and our behaviors, and antecedent to our behaviors, our perceptions and thoughts leading to those behaviours. If “ecology” is about about the essence of a human-environment relationship  in order to save this planet, our species on it, and so on…

An “Ecology of Mind” cannot be far behind as the fullest and next expression and last expression of this seemingly ever-morphing eco-movement.

In this authors opinion, the human Mind is the missing link to making such a movement a manfest reality on the plant as a whole. It has always been about the ecology of each human mind and only recently are we finally developing the common social lexicon to speak to this directly.

The Human Mind and Brain is a natural resource in and of itself. It is that which makes “a change” happen.

It is the most powerful, elegant, complex and sophisticated natural resource on planet earth. It is also the most mis-understood and least utilized natural resource on the planet.  Go figure.

It can be argued, without great effort, that the human mind/brain is the least efficiently managed, connected and effectively leveraged of all other natural eco-resources we are working on conserving, or better managing, or more optimally affecting the inherent synergies of…  etc.  There is some amazing irony to be had here.

We have yet to begin to “directly” act most fully upon, nurture, develop, connect, “synergyze”  and evolve this most basic element in the eco-dance?

Of all the natural resources that need to be self-sustaining, more fully articulated , understood, nurtured, managed and evolved; that need to become regenerative, and then auto-regenerative (autopoietic); that need to be truly and deeply known and discovered and  explored and optimized for the ultimate and glorious survival and evolution of humanity – and as a result – our planet as a whole… it is the human mind and its fullest development…. and in parallel, the finer grain and more optimal connection of synergistic minds…. All this is the next all-consuming wave… a wave that will unfold and enfold without end.

It is the next unexplored country to be discovered but never fully mined.

The Human Mind, and the concommitant result of an ever-evolving, finer grain innate and organic representation of the Human Self and systems of Human Self’s, is the next Ecology…

In my book it is the true Ecological omnibus framework from which current version is actually a subset. And this nested correlation-as-sub-representation will only be seen decades from now.

EcoMind defined – This is simply a placeholder…..

… while I begin to re-collect and collect my past and current thinking/writing on this subject which has been on and in my mind for the last 30 years in one evolving form to another over that timeframe (circa 1979-ish).

I believe this is where we are heading as individuals, systems-of-individuals, e.g. cultures and our world as whole.

Instantiations will be forwarded of an emergence of an Ecology-of-Mind movement and what the new movement means in terms of economics; social-ecology; a technology architecture and feature revolution; human and human-systems design, learning, development and evolution.

The Blog Universe of One

leave a comment »

I am guessing that blogs are more for the individual than the group, that most bloggers are rather solitary beings within their blogspace.

This is/was not the true purpose of The Blog I suspect, in its vision-origination.  I think the true “evolved” purpose was to create an synergistic and constructive and interconnected “thought-collective” which would manifest new and higher and fuller levels of thought and natural and resultant positive actions which emerge from those collective constructions.

One would imagine, time-bandwidth aside,  that the dynamic of thought “connectivity” assume is alive and well in the blogoshere, would result in greater commentary among and between bloggers, yet, this inter-activity and demonstrated “connectedness” is a rare reality in proportion to the total blog content spaces.

Let’s face it, not all bloggers produce thoughts on paper which provoke and motivate interaction… this said, I believe there are many more that do, and yet go without comments and interaction from the rest of the world. This is unfortunate.

Up to this point then, I feel blogs are self-reflective and thought projective spaces for their writers.  Which is great… expression is a positive thing, or can be.

In an “EcoMind” psycho-social and technologically reflective space this would not be the case… which is better and which is where I believe we are moving towards.

Emergent Markets Forecasting

leave a comment »

Starting in the late 80’s I began asking the question; “How can we predict emergence through emergent language usage?”

I figured I could find a way to look at documented language usage across an complex array of relationship indices and see new and emergent patterns, which could then be compared and correlated to other variable within the business marketplace which could then shed a more coherent light on what’s next quesswork.

My real interest obviously, was to se if my own work, which I believed at the time was ahead of its time, would see the light of day, someday, and in the markeplace.

So, I began looking for a “languaging” usage source that could meet my needs and settled on the USPTO db.  Then I MANUALY began keyword searching, based on various taxonomies, and tabulating the simplest representations of a possible and measureable “emergence” variables – word and phrase “first use”, frequency-of-use, and signifcant frequency-of-use shifts.

I knew at the time that if I could preduct anything in the market, ahead of pack, and with any re-producability and signifcant measure of predictive efficacy, that I could have an incredibly valuable tool on my hands.

As I mentioned earlier, the visceral motivation here was/is to see if my own work, and the language that made up that work, had a chance in  hell of emerging and coming into the consciousness of the marketspace, and some significant demographic of humanity, while I was still talking and breathing and communciating  myself.

Obviously, if such an analysis did work then the application possibilites are of the boggling kind.

So, starting in around 1994 and intervals of 3  or so months, I would ask the USPTO db to show me – via keyword search – the uses of the word(s) – aha, ah-ha, eureka,  for example, and the associated synonyms like –  insight, creative insight, revelation, and so forth.  I did the same with scientific words and phrases which related to my (Evolutionary-Ontology) model like – holographic brain, and holography, holonomics, and fourier transform, and transform (mathematical meaning as expressed but analyzing cross-pollination and transference to other social-lingustic usages and domains or contexts of use.)

Well, over a 3 year timeframe, (and no I did not keep it up every 3 months, but did look at the data as it evolved over time) I can honestly say this is a great idea… the word hologram and holographic for example – and this is before holographic ID cards and holographic promotional media became commonplace – increased in usage frequency in the US patent office db from around 500 hits to over 35,000 in that 3 year timeframe.

The keywords/terms “aha”, “ah-ha”, and its correlates, moved from less than 1,00o hits to over 10,000 in the same timeframe.

Did I mention that doing this keyword searching and analysis “manually” is tremendously time consuming… but provocative. Reminded me of the days of doing 3 and 5 year financial projections using a typewriter and before the advent of spreadsheet app’s  like Lotus 123 and Excel…

Now, if I had an extra $200K-500K laying about and had given it to some awesomely brilliant , empathetic-to-the-ideation, db development house  to actually produce this business intellgence db… I might be a gazillionaire. Oh well, maybe next year.  Fact is, I have approach more than one company over the last 20 years to do just that… but the cash was just not there to get it done.

Anyway, this blog entry is essentially about an ah-ha about the notion that some form of an analysis of language usage can predict the evolution of emergent things, e.g. a new business marketspace.

Language is a manifestation of thought.  Changes in language represent changes in and of thought, and thinking, within our individual Self(s) and in our cultures and the world as a whole-of-Self’s.

There is new techology that analyzes language (keywords, combinations of keywords, and phrases) within mutiple virtual and web environments… at least at the level of where people are going, who they are getting there, the value derived when they get there, how often they go places and stay at places (or not) and yank stuff from those places, ad infinitum, and inferences as to why they’re doing what they are doing, i.e. human and human-clustered motivation and perceptional questions.  Google and others are lookin’ hard and fast at any db derived intelligence they can get their hands on that will be useful internally in the making of more money, and potentially useful as it can be packaged and sold to others in making of still more money.

Me… I just want to know if “human evolution” and this associated idea of an “ecology-of-mind”  is, and will be, the new kewl gig in town… and, if so, when.

More specifically, I just want to know if my life-work, this Model – this “Evolutionary Ontology – and associated products, services, all media content, consumer desk-top ( SaaS and entreprise applications) software and “languaging”, which I have been working on for almost 30 years, has a chance to come to market….

… so I can die a grinning, joy-filled and Purpose-full-filled-Dude.
