This next-gen of social, more-evolutionary (psycho-social) in nature (pun to be seen later) will be based on new domain of individual data and metrics.  These measures will also be visualized in 4D (not simply circles, but toroids over time which = 4D personal topologies) and will be dynamic and fluid values visualized and yet, despite their fluidity they will having directionality in regards to the individual and certain innate developmental limits, i.e. our natural personal and unique dispositions and gifts will, as they always have, define our personal developmental limits. Our natural “limits” are seen here in non-traditional definition. *

As we learn and evolve our gifts we develop our unique and genuine form of personal mastery and from this a life-purpose based on our natural gifts and dispositions. Our mastery develops, through a very full life time, into a personal “art-form.”

Anyone who has developed true mastery will be seen as an artist in their work whether they’re an educator, design engineer, programmer, plumber, executive, electrician, chef, or lawyer, yes, lawyers can achieve a level or artistry in their life work too. In fact my own brother has achieved such a level of Mastery, as an attorney, but would never say this out loud. At this time, and predominantly, this is not how we talk (out loud) about gift-evolved personal mastery in most professional fields of work, but I see a time coming when we will.

And this will be difficult time for many of us whose life to date has been lived founded upon powerful yetextrinsic models and social motivators;, i.e. those of us that have been living symbolic lives, and even become highly successful both monetarily and professionally in the process. Monetary success is NOT a valid metric for human accountability, as many of us already know, nor is professional stature necessarily a metric for personal authenticity.

The best news? This will happen so much the sooner and evolve into a positive common and learned awareness within the lives of our children.

Shopping aisles will suggest a cheese with that wine and even a possible date in aisle #3 who buys the same olive oil, pasta and ice cream we buy. For starters our smart airport parking space might speak to us.  When it does it might say:

“Hello Mr. Hennessy. Your departing flight is currently on-time. Current security line wait time in International Terminal 3 is 45 minutes.”

Of course we will be able to ask “Smart-Spaces” questions, such as…

A: “5 minutes Mr. Hennessy. “

Airport hallway “Smart-Walls” will speak to us. To me these interconnected and contiguous “sensing” panels might suggest…

“You have time for a beverage Mr. Hennessy. Would you care for your Guinness at the bar coming up up on your left in 100 yards? I can order it for you now if you’d like.”

Did I mention that the audio tech exists that can pin-point the projection of sound, i.e. to you and only you as you walk down a hallway ? Perfect huh.

Kiosks everywhere will know us… the level of intimacy we will most likely control, but they’ll still know something about us if we are carrying a Smartphone and our devices are switched on.

Since 1986 I’ve been focused on a specific question. As it turns out this singular question is intimately connected to a number of other critical and interrelated questions.

The core question has always been: How do we discover, develop and value our innate, gifted and naturally unique Self.

Some of the critical interrelated questions follow:

Why is an awareness of our innate Self, and Self-Evolution knowledge, critical to the health of the human species, as a naturally interconnected macro-organism called humanity? (Think Gaia with Frontal Lobes ) 

What does individual Self-Evolution have to do with the quality of everything else in our life? 

What does knowing, living and valuing one’s innate Self have to do with quality of: our relationships; our career choices; and our parenting? 

How is it that in consciously living our gifted Self we will come to know our true Life-Purpose: that a more conscious knowledge of Self connects each of us more directly with our Life Purpose.

Why is it not obvious that in valuing and living our Self and our Purpose we positively affect our health habits; our immune system; and increase our productive working synergies with other people?

Finally, how does the intentional living of a more coherent, gift-founded and driven Self enhance the quality and quantity of human social synergy?

The Solution as a System:

All of these questions have been considered as a system of inherently interrelated processes – as a singular system. The combination of content system and business system is used in the solution.

The two of these combined dimensions are what I believe to be a very powerful and effective answer to each and every one of these questions – as a singular system’s oriented solution.

There is simply a great deal we don’t know about what makes up a human “Self” and certainly not near enough self knowledge to be certain and secure in the fact that we “think” of as our “passion” is truly that which we are meant do with our lives. 

If knowing our true life-work passion, our purpose in life, were easy 99% of the global population would be doing something else with their life.

What many people choose to “think” is their life-passion is typically not. Though it is ALWAYS a “good idea”, even brilliant, and/or something having social benefit and value, but is not what we were born to do with our lives… with our Self in the purposeful living of our life. This is a sad fact. 

Gift-Knowing Demands Having Ah-Ha's about our Ah-Ha's

Hey, but there is good news coming. The good news is that questions about how to define a “Self” have begun to appear online and with some global volume and frequency (“Aha!”, says Oprah).  As we begin to answer these questions we also begin to reveal an understanding of what makes a human being, each of us, unique.  This answer then naturally begets further queries about what we are naturally enabled and “born” to do.  And these answers lead us to a more fine-grain understanding of what a unique Self’s true “life-work-as-life-passion” is all about.

Quite often our sense of what we feel passionate about does not come from within us. It comes from without. It is more a “passionate life-work affair” and is not what we were destined to do with what makes us essentially unique.

This is what makes each of us YOUnique and this is the only foundation to build from vs. an attachment to an externally valued (perceived social valuation) life passion which may be very strongly felt, and believed at some level, but is not supported by that which we are BORN to do; by our innate Self… our organic unique-ness.

This latter form of human passion is not purely intrinsic to our “Self” and the energy reservoir need to effectively pursue these paths will, by design, effectively run dry.

Now with the real deal, the native creativity and energy we have access to from within our true Self – that is fueled and founded on our natural Gifts – provides us a reservoir of infinite depth, fueling us naturally while we live out a YOUnique, gift-aligned life-work; while we live our truest path of passion.

To make the consciousness of a personal “Self” cool you first have to define it. To do that you need a framework, a way of speaking to the question to begin with. In our conversation the human “Self” has an evolving quality that we believe we can visually represent in a meaningful way – both for the user and for society as a whole – and over time.

So, to make Self-consciousness cool you have to make the process of personal evolution entertaining, ergo cool. You have to make the thought-framework you are using, in our case, a human evolutionary-ontology, entertaining and cool.

Then, of course, you have to create a brand universe of products and services founded upon this “framework-as-ontology.” Not a simple nor obvious solution as this complex brand universe is born from a synergetic system of words, images and meaning-rich messages. And this system of words images and messages will grow out of this idea of evolving personal YOUnique-ness; TheSelf; and so on. AND all of this, schtuff… you know… must be truly kewl to fly.

The model, we call LeModel (Learning-to-Evolve the Model), consists of 6 core “state” or ”process/operator” variables, facets or components. It was first created and presented to academic audiences as a new way to frame, and speak to the idea of, gift-centric Self-evolution. These first presentations occurred at Stanford University between 1983-1985. 

The character images are called LeToonz and were added to illustrate the phrases within LeModel in 1990-91. These “toon-ish” illustrations were done in collaboration with Jack Dempsey, a Chicago (Illinois/USA) artist. 

LeToonz - Your YOUnique SELF Is TruKewl

From Left to Right and riding directly atop the wave (LeWave) we see AskYourSelf, LetGo, Ah-Ha, and DoIt.  Below AskYourSelf and on the circular pedestal, and in blue, is Flo, Across from Flo and in front of and below Ah-Ha is BeIt. BeIt is a comnbination of all the LeToonz characters. BeIt’s shapre is that of a chalice and a torid… see the donut around BeIt’s waist. The arms and legs spread up and out to form the shape of the chalice (bi-spiral vortices).

“Ah-Ha” (aka: “aha-moment”) is one of the LeModel “state” variables.

It has taken some time but all the LeModel linguistic variables have, as of 2010, become part of the consumer lexicon. This is not to say the utternace “ah-ha” did not occur before Oprah.  It is only to say that broad and commonly defined consumer awareness of what an “ah-ha” means and its “reality” as a shared  experience started with Oprah. The same with “Do-It” via Nike; and “Flo” or “Being in the Zone” via our star athlete Brand scripting (and Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi).

It took 1 human generation, approximately 25 years between 1984-2010, for all of the variables within LeModel to achieve this level of awareness and frequency-of-use in the consumer market.  One thing LeModel provides that we have yet to see is to show the natural interplay and relationships that exist between each of these core variables and how these operate within our lives.

The phrase “Do-It” is one of the “process” or operation variables within LeModel. Nike made “Just Do It” famous 1988. Once a phrase becomes has developed a certain permanence within our conversations with each other, or within our Selfs, we can assume a new level of awareness, or consciousness, has been achieved related to the idea, or meaning of the word or phrase and its emergent associations. In this case, “Do-It” became part of our common lexicon by the early 90′s and has persisted into present day conversation. Ah-Ha, or aha-moment, emerged in and around early 2010 and will continue to spread dramatically.

“Flo” is one of the LeModel “state” variables that made it to verbal ubiquity in the late 90′s under the umbrella of pop sport psychology with its early roots found in the published and later more broadly popularized work of Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi  (1985, 1989).

“Ask Your Self” we began to see in a number of Print, Radio and TV ADs and then TV comedy scripts such as Seinfeld in the late 90′s early 2000… to date each and every one of these phrase-as-variables has been isolated, or seen as separate by the consumer-mind. In our model they are unified as a system. Over time each and every one of these phrases has migrated across multiple social-semantic contexts.

Ah-Ha clicked-in-relevance with the consuming mind in the last quarter of 2008 w/Oprah: http://www.oprah.com/packages/aha-moments.html … and is now being used in media scripting, business, academic and product and service presentations and speeches around the world. Speaking to perceived value of a “phrase”, Mutual of Omaha even sued Oprah over use of the phrase “Aha Moment.”

So, how can we get kids to think, see and viscerally experience this idea that their SELF, and the Consciousness of their innate and evolving Self is actually amazingly cool?  This has always been the big question.

We have looked at the array of product domains and channels and age-groups by which to enter the market, knowing full well that the “thought-product” we are offering can manifest itself within any number of product domains – from fashions and accessories; to toys; to educational-tech to media/entertainment content (TV, Video, Music, Film); to mobile (dedicated learning and/or learning-game)  and social media apps… to knowledge, collective intelligence and semantic web apps…. and even to coffee cups. http://letoonz.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/letoonz-product-kids-8-13-lewave-wremoveable-letoonz-characters-and-embedded-songs/

We also know a number of these categories are inherently synergistic (Cool Mobile-App Suite meets new Brand Toys (assume younger demog) and/or Fashions + New “Brand” Music/Video, etc) and we have been looked at these scenarios as parallel devel waves.

For example, we know we can build an exciting game-culture (with sequel and age-migration legs) specific to human-evolution (EvoReVo!). Not a simple task. We could use a treasure hunt, mystery and puzzle storyboard format with a focus on the discovery (recorded ah-ha’s) of innate personal gifts and dispositions (The Natural-Self Revealed)… “Yea so.” & “…then what?” …the user asks. Well, it’s inherently Self-developmental and social developmental, or simply “social”… so we build in connectivity into the game… it is global multi-player treasure hunt, the treasure being “The Self” and Synergies-of-Self’s defined by who the users really are; defined by a significantly more authentic “Me.”

Further, with this game-generated data and experience, can you then build an evolving social (MP) culture – a social synergy culture connecting individually evolving human beings based on a new platform of individual innate (born-with) characteristics used to mirror personal and YOUnique evolution… If we can make it fun and insight-full then we win the first round.

Can personal evolution be perceived as ”kewl” today? We think so. We believe this in part based on social and semantic events that have unfolded consistently and progressively over the last 25 years in the consumer global marketplace – these emergent linguistic patterns we believe speaks to a value-perception and readiness for the ideas behind: Self-Evolution, YOUniqueness, SELF-Consciousness; and even the emergence notions of an Ecology-of-Mind and The Human-Singularity.

It is an amazing that each and every LeModel variable has become more and more commonly used in “shared experience” conversation by human beings around the world starting around 1990 +/- 1 yr or so and LeModel was first created and presented to the “academic” public as a whole, dynamic and unified system of these same phrases in 1983/84. 

To date, the powerful connections of each of these phrases to one another has not been articulated, much less illustrated, outside of LeModel. We look forward to sharing these thoughts and insights.

Emergent Singularity Visualized as a Spiral Vortex

In reality this unknown and parallel movement is really not so difficult to comprehend. If we simply look around us today, perceiving more wholly all the pieces of what’s been happening and changing in our lives as fragments of an interconnected and evolving whole, we can capture a sense of its presence.

Peering through this new and more conscious lens - polished by the variables of the complex human psyche, and our social, ecological and spiritual realities – we catch site of the reason and purpose of our exciting and new technological universe. After all, there must be a purpose for it all; a purpose founded, to date without conscious intent, on our own evolution.

Do we really think all that is going on right now, before, and into the future with our technology, is an accident… a multi-verse joke? The purpose of the technology should connnect to something about humanity, right? It should have meaning and value and intrinsically defined direction.

I propose that purpose as fundamentally grounded by our own evolution as individuals within an inherently, though to-date relatively non-manifest,  synergistic system of individuals.

And that this system is innately determined to accelerate the unfolding potential of individual minds within an emergent system of minds.

I think we are responsible for the course of the evolution of technology, I also think we don’t know why.

…something within us has been trying to come through, push through.  Today we have this new world of social-networking but we were destined to produce this essentially mind-interactive space.  Our minds demanded it.  We needed it for a reason, a purpose.

I believe there is a human-nature-evolving motivation for our technological movement that to-date has yet to be defined nor given its proper place in the scheme of things. I propose to use the term ”The Human Singularity” for this movement.

Each and every human being on the planet is a evolving-node of an as yet unrealized human-eco-system. This always-evolving mind-matrix will be more innately and potently singular via the emergent qualities of humanity’s expression of it’s progressively unifying Self. The singular expressiveness will be defined by its synergy. This continuously evolving expression of an evolving humanity – a mind-of-minds – will always precede and guide our technology.  We cannot see this yet, nor act on it with intention, because the idea has yet to be fully articulated, embraced and integrated into our consciousness and technological frameworks.

The potential intelligence of this evolving matrix of interconnected human “Self’s” cannot be assessed, nor even imagined at this point in our history.  This fuller and more complete wholeness as a human ecosystem is what I believe ”humanity” has been moving towards, and yearning for in fact, since the very beginning of our conscious awareness as a species.

Think Gaia with frontal-lobes applied with intention.

Each of us, as uniquely, genetically disposed, significant and evolving individuals, has an optimal web-of-connections within this organic global human matrix. Further, we are destined to have and live a gift-driven  life-purpose as a function of our uniqueness. With the discovery (resonance-of-human-complements = synergies) of those other significant Hu-connections and living this form of Self, our lives acquire greater meaning.

In generations to come the coherence and awareness of our individual uniqueness, and from this our personal and innately defined life-purpose, will make the ecosystem profoundly more powerful, more intelligent.

The concept The Human Singularity will not be fully understood until a more conscious awareness of our innate and gift-driven Self’s, much less the relationship of that gift-driven Self’s within an inherently interconnected whole. (See: http://imonad.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/weme-metrics/)

The intelligence and power of The Human Singularity is based on the degree of synergy among its parts. We as uniquely gifted individuals are those parts of a global and synergistic human matrix.

The degree of total Hu-synergy of Hu-ecosystem then is directly related to the degree of coherence and clarity of each Self within the system.

I see the purpose of the technology singularity in a core supporting role for the accelerated unfolding of our awaiting Human Singularity, not as a separate or somehow super-human movement.

The key to our being able to bring about this more whole, intelligent and synergetic human ecosystem is through the more effective learning and development of each human part or facet… our Self. We can’t know and live more powerfully synergistic lives unless we better know (and then intentionally act on and live) our innate and natural dispositions and gifts.

This is an idea of Self seen as one’s Significant-Self.

Until we learn to intentionally develop this next generation(s) of human “Self”, much like we learn to read and write today, we cannot know the experience of human synergy. We will not, until then, realize and experience the incredible harmonies (Hu-synergy as Hu-overtones?)  that can exist within a global eco-system of uniquely competent and purposeful human beings.

First, how do we define a human ecosystem? The story, the new lexicon, message needs both academic as well as curricular, and all-media popular representations. It needs to be formed, articulated and represented so that we can see it, feel it, live it. With these insights beginning to become more internalized we can then begin to recognize the daily and yearly evolving life-process-reality within our new Self’s.

This brings to the fore the idea of an internal and individual “Singularity-of-Self.” 

A Self-Singularity necessitates a form of internal convergence.  This convergence within each of us must occur through the coming together of parts or facets of our Self’s. These Facets-of-Self are our innate dispositions.  Each of us as individuals are born with unique set of natural dispositions (gifts). As each of us discovers these gifts and dispositions we then learn over time how they combine and weave together. It is the convergence of our gifts that   moves us along the inexonerable and unique paths we were born to travel in life.

The lexicon and language and meaning needs a solid foundation and must dovetail into the current thought space. Even the simple idea of an evolving Self has as yet no ubiquitous alignment among humanity… we aren’t even close. Further, the knowable and felt idea of a global matrix of unique Self’s as a singular whole is even further out there.

Where to begin? Well, first we need to be able to have a (simple ) conversation about this new reality.

In order to do that we need to have an ontology and associated taxonomy. This human singularity ontology would frame the reality of an evolving human ecosystem, as well as, its core intrinsic dynamic processes.

This ontology and taxonomy must, by nature, play well with existing cultural beliefs, ideologies, and religions. It must also be easily shareable and applicable for the global public. More so, the ontology-as-model needs to be fully and warmly and viscerally embraced. Finally, in terms of popular expressions for teen and tween acceptance and application it needs to be perceived as “cool.”

Without a way of speaking about and defining the process and innate facets of an evolving and unique human “Self” we can’t communicate nor most effectively connect Self-to-Self(s). Without expression our innate human eco-system, its intelligence, power and synergetic potential, will continue to unfold in shadow, as it has to date, with continued attrition of the human psyche as the cost of not acting.

We need to deliver the what, why, how, and my favorite, the “so-what” of it.

Only then can we accelerate-by-design and intention the manifestation of this new and needed reality – within and between the minds of humanity, from generation to generation. Beginning in this one. Beginning with us.

As it happens … I have developed such an evolutionary ontology and associated evolutionary (process) taxonomy. This process-model speaks to discovering and managing the development of the innate human uniqueness within and between each of us. It does so in a manner that is universal to all while applying uniquely to each individual.

These are all connected – our natural and innate gifts and dispositions, our uniqueness, our natural and incredibly powerful synergy with others, our life direction and ultimate purpose. These connections are our world, a more whole and powerful and intelligent human ecosystem – an ecosystem made up of healthy and passionately interwoven beings… an alive and breathing and forever-evolving whole.

The Human Singularity is very real – though as yet non-manifest in our consciousness. 

We simply haven’t evolved to the horizon of the sighting.  When we do reach this threshold a more evolved, powerfully and creatively connected humanity awaits,  forever traveling the path of evolving human wholeness, fueled by the evolution of its constituent parts… fueled by an ”Us” evolving. 

• more effectively express and live our natural gifts and dispositions;
• discover healthier and fuller human relationship synergy born naturally from this truer “Self”;
• come to know sooner, and live more fully with intention, our YOUnique ”Life-Purpose.”

What I wish to do here is very simple.  The beginning bottom line to living one’s gifts in one’s lifetime is to come to discover them, to value them, and then act on manifesting and living them most fully and in our daily life over time.  

This idea of discovering and living our natural gifts and dispositions “over time” cannot be over stated. This process is anything but a quick fix.  It is a lifetime deal. A lifetime of learning is involved in this idea of Self evolving. As it should be.  Personal evolution is The Never Ending (life) Story for each of us.

Now, invariably, and naturally, when my conversations with people in real or virtual life get to this point I will get the same question from someone in the audience, or that person I am speaking with directly in front of me (… and their inner-dialog is most likely something along these lines, “BlahBlahdiddlyblah”)

Here’s THE question:

“HOW THE $#%@ DO I FIGURE OUT WHAT MY GIFTS ARE?!”

I have capitalized this question as the speaking voice of the inquirer typically carries some shade of emotion. My answer is surprisingly simple, even elegant, but the application of the insight found in the answer is incredibly difficult to do.

Here’s my reply:  

“As an adult we can see our natural gifts through our reaction to others… over time.  Specifically, it’s those things that consistently frustrate us about other people that represents our natural and innate gifts and dispositions.”

It is those things others can’t do, that we do easily, that reflect our innate gifts and dispositions. As an adult, with life memories, and built-up pattern of thought and behavior, this is the simplest way I know of to begin seeing one’s naturally gifted Self…

It is quite illuminating as we consider our own negative reactions to others as being unreasonable. All along we thought they were the idiots, or simple minded, or just plain incompetent, when it turns out they were none of these, that we were simply not accurately valuing that which made us unique.

The collective of psycho-socially focused clouds will simply act as cognitive and even meta-cognitive (2025-ish), mirrors of our minds over time… of our Self.

Real-Time and Comparable Hu-Self-Representation via Nested Toroids

I have documented that the representation of our YOUnique human Self and Hu-Systems thereof can be accomplished visually and in real-time using nth-dimensionally nested toroids (which you can see on my blog if you’re curious). The data that auto-generates these dynamic visual representations are a facet of the above referred to “product systems.”

The market’s psychological – and then behavioral – shift will begin to take affect once we (that micro-mass of first adopters) come…to realize that our “Self” (the who-what-how-where/when-why of the individual) historically is not, for most of us, the Self that we, as uniquely disposed individuals, were innately and naturally born to be and become…

…this is when things will go from the now emerged and highly niche life-logging and Self-Quantification paradigm to the Self-Evolution and, significantly more highly productive, Hu-Synergistic paradigm.

IMO… the paradigm shift from “Self-Quant” and Self-representational marketplace to an Human-Evolutionary marketplace will cross over, from one side to the other, in the next 5-10 years with the shift itself, if I’m lucky, occurring around 2012/13.

Self-Quant to Self-Evolution Crossroads

The shift will be seen merely as a new way of looking at the whole of our PI behavioral data with another new set of associated apps and tech indicating the break-through of the evolutionary paradigm. I look forward to the possibility of supplying the most critical these shift-catalyzing app-systems.

Between 1986 and 1994 I formulated a plan that saw this process taking 3-generations to fully unfold in the global marketplace.

So, IMO, we are looking at a timeline – for those not shaking their heads but open to such a probability for full social (read: market) involvement in “Self-Evolutionary” thought and behavior – to occur in and around 2050….

And “Yes.” one of these behavior shifts includes one’s pocketbook… just like it does now for those in this proven now emergent niche market of life-logging, et al, who are right now buying one of hundreds of personal psycho-bio sensors and life-logging tech and apps; having this new domain of PI data manually (at the moment) and auto-uploaded (for some of the apps) to a newer class of socnet spaces and connecting to others around the world in more “conscious” fashion there.

Critical Balance: The Coming Convergence of Two Complementary Emergent Movements

Further (and finally) this for me is the natural balancing that one might envision is needed between the (some form of) Tech-Singularity movement with a now just-emerging Human-Singularity movement.
