How To Recognize Our Innate and Natural Gifts – The Source of Our True Self – Part I
As most of you know, my life-work centers around personal and social human evolution and to see this idea of “evolution” as a process that occurs within a individuals lifetime. The work is founded on the notion that we, as unique human beings, have a fundamental need to:
- more effectively express and live our natural gifts and dispositions;
- discover healthier and fuller human relationship synergy born naturally from this truer “Self”;
- come to know sooner, and live more fully with intention, our YOUnique ”Life-Purpose.”
What I wish to do here is very simple. The beginning bottom line to living one’s gifts in one’s lifetime is to come to discover them, to value them, and then act on manifesting and living them most fully and in our daily life over time.
This idea of discovering and living our natural gifts and dispositions “over time” cannot be over stated. This process is anything but a quick fix. It is a lifetime deal. A lifetime of learning is involved in this idea of Self evolving. As it should be. Personal evolution is The Never Ending (life) Story for each of us.
Now, invariably, and naturally, when my conversations with people in real or virtual life get to this point I will get the same question from someone in the audience, or that person I am speaking with directly in front of me (… and their inner-dialog is most likely something along these lines, “BlahBlahdiddlyblah”)
Here’s THE question:
“HOW THE $#%@ DO I FIGURE OUT WHAT MY GIFTS ARE?!”
I have capitalized this question as the speaking voice of the inquirer typically carries some shade of emotion. My answer is surprisingly simple, even elegant, but the application of the insight found in the answer is incredibly difficult to do.
Here’s my reply:
“As an adult we can see our natural gifts through our reaction to others… over time. Specifically, it’s those things that consistently frustrate us about other people that represents our natural and innate gifts and dispositions.”
It is those things others can’t do, that we do easily, that reflect our innate gifts and dispositions. As an adult, with life memories, and built-up pattern of thought and behavior, this is the simplest way I know of to begin seeing one’s naturally gifted Self…
It is quite illuminating as we consider our own negative reactions to others as being unreasonable. All along we thought they were the idiots, or simple minded, or just plain incompetent, when it turns out they were none of these, that we were simply not accurately valuing that which made us unique.
Seeing One’s SELF Has Now Become a Data Reality of Its Own
This commentary was ignited by the New Scientist article on Life-Logging (Gordon Bell) and Self-Quantification movements, their associated technologies, and psycho-social personal and cultural shifts.

The next phase of all this will concern micro – within a single lifetime – “evolution’; and the acceleration of the quality of human synergies Local2Global that will manifest naturally and in parallel – a certain flattening of those 6-degrees of separation and a shift in human productivity.
The missing, shift catalyzing, link is a human evolutionary-ontology that operates equally within and for individuals and human collectives thereof.

From cortical Glia cell and dendridic networks to cloud models
The collective of psycho-socially focused clouds will simply act as cognitive and even meta-cognitive (2025-ish), mirrors of our minds over time… of our Self.
Real-Time and Comparable Hu-Self-Representation via Nested Toroids
I have documented that the representation of our YOUnique human Self and Hu-Systems thereof can be accomplished visually and in real-time using nth-dimensionally nested toroids (which you can see on my blog if you’re curious). The data that auto-generates these dynamic visual representations are a facet of the above referred to “product systems.”
The market’s psychological – and then behavioral – shift will begin to take affect once we (that micro-mass of first adopters) come…to realize that our “Self” (the who-what-how-where/when-why of the individual) historically is not, for most of us, the Self that we, as uniquely disposed individuals, were innately and naturally born to be and become…
…this is when things will go from the now emerged and highly niche life-logging and Self-Quantification paradigm to the Self-Evolution and, significantly more highly productive, Hu-Synergistic paradigm.
IMO… the paradigm shift from “Self-Quant” and Self-representational marketplace to an Human-Evolutionary marketplace will cross over, from one side to the other, in the next 5-10 years with the shift itself, if I’m lucky, occurring around 2012/13.
Self-Quant to Self-Evolution Crossroads
The shift will be seen merely as a new way of looking at the whole of our PI behavioral data with another new set of associated apps and tech indicating the break-through of the evolutionary paradigm. I look forward to the possibility of supplying the most critical these shift-catalyzing app-systems.
Between 1986 and 1994 I formulated a plan that saw this process taking 3-generations to fully unfold in the global marketplace.

So, IMO, we are looking at a timeline – for those not shaking their heads but open to such a probability for full social (read: market) involvement in “Self-Evolutionary” thought and behavior – to occur in and around 2050….
And “Yes.” one of these behavior shifts includes one’s pocketbook… just like it does now for those in this proven now emergent niche market of life-logging, et al, who are right now buying one of hundreds of personal psycho-bio sensors and life-logging tech and apps; having this new domain of PI data manually (at the moment) and auto-uploaded (for some of the apps) to a newer class of socnet spaces and connecting to others around the world in more “conscious” fashion there.
Critical Balance: The Coming Convergence of Two Complementary Emergent Movements
Further (and finally) this for me is the natural balancing that one might envision is needed between the (some form of) Tech-Singularity movement with a now just-emerging Human-Singularity movement.
